Dr. Onorio Chaparro
Academic Dean and Director of Admissions; Faculty Liaison, Advisory Council
Dr. Onorio Chaparro, Academic Dean and Director of Admissions, is the senior academic officer of the institution and one of its two academic deans. The position carries academic leadership of NSBT’s two graduate programs, oversight of the faculty of record, admissions review and decision, and the administration of the institution’s academic policies. He leads NSBT’s day-to-day academic operations from the institution’s Orlando administrative office, including the admissions and enrollment management cycle, faculty coordination on course delivery, the monitoring of student academic progress, academic policy implementation, and degree conferral, and he is the institution’s primary contact for student academic concerns. He has served as Academic Dean since the institution began enrolling students. He directs the admissions function, owns the admissions pipeline from first inquiry to matriculation, and decides each application for admission.
He serves as Faculty Liaison to the Advisory Council, carrying NSBT’s curricular and programmatic questions to the Council and the Council’s response back to the Academic Dean’s office and the faculty.
Teaching
Dr. Chaparro teaches graduate courses in leadership and spiritual formation, emphasizing pastoral identity, vocational discernment, and character formation. He is assigned Leadership in Global Context (MA100) and the MACM Capstone Completion Paper series. He carries the instructional design of the courses he develops and teaches, leads curriculum development across both graduate programs, and oversees course content in pastoral studies and practical ministry. He mentors students throughout their academic and spiritual formation, supporting readiness for ministry leadership and lifelong learning. He is committed to forming leaders who integrate theology, character, and vocation for faithful service in church and society.
Education
Dr. Chaparro holds the Doctor of Ministry in Christian Leadership in the Global Context from Alliance University (formerly Nyack College), conferred in 2015. His Master of Divinity is from Princeton Theological Seminary, conferred in 2005, where he received the Arthur Paul Rech Memorial Prize in Theology and Pastoral Ministry. His Bachelor of Arts in Sociology was conferred cum laude by Hunter College of the City University of New York in 1998. He brings graduate theological credentials together with ordained ministry and pastoral formation.
Ministry
Dr. Chaparro brings more than 20 years of experience in theological education, ecclesial leadership, and spiritual formation. He was ordained a minister at Christian Cultural Center on October 14, 2005, commissioned to preach and administer the ordinances of the church, and was installed as an Elder on September 19, 2025. As an Elder and a member of Christian Cultural Center’s Orlando Campus Team, he provides spiritual oversight, leadership discernment, and strategic direction for campus-wide ministry initiatives. He continues to exercise ordained ministerial responsibilities, including preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and sacramental ministry, with regular service at the church’s Orlando Campus. He provides leadership for comprehensive discipleship systems encompassing conversion, membership assimilation, spiritual formation, and leadership development. He directs men’s spiritual formation initiatives through the International Christian Brotherhood, including curriculum development, conferences, workshops, and small-group structures, and oversees adult Christian education through the Spiritual Life Institute, including the development and delivery of online theological courses.
Earlier career
From 2003 to 2005 he was Campus Pastor and Director of Nassau Christian Center in Princeton, New Jersey. There he provided pastoral leadership through preaching, worship leadership, and congregational care, designed adult Christian education curricula with pastoral staff and lay leaders, and led discipleship initiatives for college-aged and emerging adult populations. He was Managing Editor at MarketWatch Information Services in New York from 2000 to 2005, leading editorial teams that produced curated, high-volume content across multiple subject areas and languages, and Associate Producer at ABC Sports Online from 1998 to 2000. His experience advising students on admission predates his appointment: he provided academic advising and college application support as an instructor at Thomas Jefferson High School in 1998, and advised students on college admissions, financial aid, and academic planning as a case manager in the Liberty Partnership Program at Pace University from 1997 to 1998.
Scholarship and professional development
Dr. Chaparro is a scholar of global leadership and emerging adulthood and a teacher of Christian leadership and spiritual formation. His areas of teaching and leadership competence are leadership and spiritual formation, discipleship systems and adult Christian education, theological education and curriculum development, emerging adulthood, admissions strategy and student formation, and online theological education. His doctoral dissertation, “Flip the Script: Identifying Sex Scripts Among Young Adult Males at Christian Cultural Center,” examines performance-based identity, masculinity, and spiritual formation among young adult Christian men and how cultural, familial, and peer influences shape sexual narratives and pastoral responses within the church. On February 1, 2026 he presented the workshop Leading Well, Equipping Women for Leadership.
