Transfer Credit

As a general policy, with the approval of the Academic Dean, students may transfer credits toward a degree at NSBT from another graduate school of theological education that is accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools (ATS), the Association for Biblical Higher Education in Canada and the United States (ABHE), the Asia Theological Association (ATA), the Caribbean Evangelical Theological Association (CETA), the Association for Christian Theological Education in Africa (ACTEA), or another global accrediting body, as long as the courses being transferred fit within the NSBT degree program. Transfer of credits from institutions that do not have formal accreditation and from degree programs other than theology will be made on a case-by-case basis by the Academic Dean.

NSBT may accept up to one-third of the credits toward its degree by transfer of credit from another institution, including credits from another earned graduate degree. This means that for a 36-credit degree, students could possibly transfer in as much as 12 credits. In all cases, decisions regarding transfer are made by the Academic Dean.

The acceptance of transfer credit toward another institution or program is determined by the receiving institution, and NSBT cannot guarantee that credits earned at NSBT will be accepted elsewhere.

Students who wish to transfer credits from another institution must send an email to the Academic Dean requesting consideration. Students seeking transfer of credits are responsible for seeing that official transcripts from the previous school are sent electronically to the NSBT Office of Student Services. Only graduate-level courses that have a letter grade of B or above may be transferred.

Prior learning

NSBT does not award credit for prior, experiential, or life learning, and it conducts no prior learning assessment.
